When Don Klement from the noble Grubišić family built his summer residence two and a half centuries ago, he couldn’t have possible imagined that his country house would still be hosting guests from all over the world today.
Kaštelet is located by the sea. However, the history of Tučepi begins several kilometres away, on the steep slopes of the Biokovo mountain. The local hamlets are still full of evidence of how people lived in this area throughout the centuries.
One event particularly impacted the Tučepi region – the great earthquake of 1962. After the earthquake, many people descended from the mountains towards the sea. Thus, from a secluded summer residence, Kaštelet became part of a larger settlement.
Tučepi, the villages on Biokovo, as well as the entire Makarska Riviera, are places where all guests who want to embark on an adventure of exploring local history will enjoy.
A small medieval church from the 14th century is fully preserved and located in front of the Bluesun Hotel Neptun.
The name Tučepi is mentioned for the first time in the Kreševo Charter.
