Heritage Hotel Kaštelet was built in 1766 as a summer residence of nobleman, philosopher and writer Don Klement Grubišić. Many dignitaries of the 18th century stayed there for years. The travel writer Alberto Fortis compared the beauty and harmony of this country house with those in Italy.
It is believed that the first recorded discussion about the old Croatian script, Glagolitic, was held in Kaštelet.
Kaštelet was built of hewn stone in the shape of a closed quadrangle with an atrium, in which there is still a well today.
If you look towards the front of the Hotel, you will see the engraved year of construction (1766) and the coat of arms of the Grubišić noble family.
On the first floor there is a balcony with a stone balustrade that you can access from one of the Hotel rooms.
